Superbowl 2007
By Laurie | January 27, 2007
I think it’s great that the upcoming Super Bowl next weekend has boatloads of planned heightened security. Many are concerned with terrorism. With that predictable mass audience extra precautions are definitely necessary.
However, I find it interesting that the name of the host city to the 2007 Super Bowl was renamed. Now known as Miami Gardens, the city up until 2003 was called Carol City.
Unfortunately Carol City was known as an area of high crime and low employment. We couldn’t possibly hold the Super Bowl in a place like that, now could we? So instead let’s change the name to beautiful, luscious, peaceful Miami Gardens. Ahhh, sounds so serene!
Last I checked a rose by any other name is still a rose. Let’s just hope security officials are as concerned about local crimes as they are of terrorism during the Big Game.
