Cheetahlicious Marketing

By Laurie | December 12, 2006

Last night I attended The Cheetah Girls concert that was held in Grand Rapids MI. There were 11,000 gals there - mostly preteen girls and moms (Cheetah Mammas). As I sat back watching the sea of dancing and screaming girls - I could not help but consider all the merchandising that was prevalent.

Our local press today stated that not since Kiss appeared in concert at the VanAndel arena in 1997 has any group of fans spent as much money on merchandise. Last night alone the girls spent $143,000 ON STUFF! Almost 150 grand in two hours! That’s some serious sales. Sweatshirts sold for $60, Glow lights for $5 and everything else inbetween.

The Cheetah Girls have been on tour since September. They’ve made two movies; appear regularly on The Disney Channel; have books; CDs; DVDs and apparel. Merchandise sales far exceed concert ticket sales. They are a true example of multimedia marketing.

Maybe I should have some hoodies made with my face on them. I’ll sell them for only $60 each .. whaddya think?
