Shame on You, Walmart!
By Laurie | March 25, 2008
Unless you’ve been living in a cave, you’ve probably seen the headlines throughout the years that talk about troubles at Walmart - both with employees and customers. I skimmed the news but never paid much attention to the hubbub.
Now I would strongly encourage everyone to rent the DVD titled, “Wal-mart: The High Cost of Low Price”. It is a real eye opener. I was shocked. A partial synopsis reads:
Wal-Mart has become one of America’s most successful retail chains by offering everyday goods at low prices for working families. But just how is Wal-Mart able to charge less than many of their rivals, and what has their success done for their employees? Documentary filmmaker Robert Greenwald takes a look inside the discount retailer’s empire in Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price, and discovers a company short on scruples and long on shabby treatment of the people who work for them.
The 2005 DVD is 162 minutes long and very worthwhile. I highly recommend everyone view this documentary - it’ll change the way you view Wal-mart.
