by Laurie Ayers  - July 7, 2025

It is indisputable that there was no one like comedy legend, Phyllis Diller, nor will there ever be again. We can all agree on that. There is only ONE Phyllis Diller. Period.

Honoring Phyllis Diller

Over the years there have only been a few Phyllis Diller doubles, lookalikes, impersonators, and tributes. Being one of those honored few, I can speak about this subject well. But first,

  • Yes, we know we do not look or sound exactly like her.
  • Yes, we are aware we will never be as good or treasured as the real Phyllis Diller.
  • Yes, we know you critique all the areas that are not an exact clone of the one and only.

The purpose of a celebrity impersonator, lookalike, and tributes is to ENTERTAIN audiences by mimicking the appearance, mannerisms, voice, or performance style of a famous person and AIM to EVOKE nostalgia, humor, or admiration.

We also provide a way for fans to experience a close approximation of their favorite celebrities, especially if the real celebrity is inaccessible or deceased. For many of us, it’s a creative outlet and a career that combines acting, performance, and fandom.
